The third edition of Greek Wine Explained is not limited to a simple annual update. Its purpose is to document the real state of Greek wine, focusing on factors such as the reality of the vineyards, pressure from yields, and planting strategies.
The edition also includes wine tastings, with 66 samples of Assyrtiko organized by style and region, as well as 28 wines from the Naoussa area.
Karakasis emphasizes that Greek winemaking has reached a level of international recognition, something that was hard to imagine 15 years ago. Listings in renowned restaurants and the increase in exports bolster this progress.
However, the market faces challenges, with consumers becoming more selective. For this reason, the third edition is essential not to celebrate progress, but to examine whether the structural foundations are strong enough to support it.
This effort is part of a broader initiative by Karakasis to promote serious discussions around Greek wine, such as Great Greek Wines.
