Premium Rosé Wines Spark Renaissance Across Europe

By · May 15, 2026

According to The Drinks Business, the European rosé wine market is anticipated to grow significantly, with projections indicating an increase from USD 4.8 billion in 2025 to USD 6.9 billion by 2035. This growth reflects a robust 43.8% increase and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.7%, as reported by Fact.MR.

The surge in rosé wine sales can be attributed to the rising demand for premium wines, lifestyle-oriented consumption, and a growing appreciation for rosé as a versatile year-round choice. Over the next decade, demand is expected to rise nearly 1.44 times, fueled by a focus on quality innovation and increased availability in restaurants, supermarkets, and online platforms.

Still rosé remains the dominant category, representing 68.4% of sales in 2025, as consumers continue to favor traditional winemaking methods and food-pairing versatility. The premium segment leads in value share at 42.8%, highlighting a clear shift towards higher-quality products.

Among European nations, the UK is projected to experience the fastest growth, with a CAGR of 4.1% through 2035. Portugal follows closely at 4.0%, supported by wine tourism and a focus on premium offerings, while Germany (3.9%) and the Netherlands (3.8%) also show promising growth. Italy (3.6%), Spain (3.5%), and France (3.4%) complete the list of top markets, reflecting their rich production heritage and changing consumer tastes.

Producers are increasingly prioritizing premium quality, sustainable practices, and lifestyle appeal. Notable initiatives include Whispering Angel launching a new premium rosé collection with carbon-neutral production and sustainable packaging in 2024, Mirabeau introducing an organic rosé line with enhanced flavor complexity in 2025, and Miraval releasing a limited-edition rosé series in collaboration with celebrity partners to attract younger consumers.
