By · April 30, 2026

The global wine market is poised for remarkable growth, with projections indicating it will soar to $328.5 billion by 2026 and reach an impressive $447.02 billion by 2033. A recent report by Coherent Market Insights highlights a robust 36% growth forecast over the next seven years, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.5%.

While concerns linger regarding declining wine consumption in certain regions, the report underscores positive trends, particularly among younger consumers. By 2026, still wines are anticipated to dominate the market with a 46.5% share, followed by sparkling wines at 28.7% and fortified wines at 24.8%. Notably, red wines are expected to lead with a 47% market share, eclipsing white wines at 29% and rosé at 24%.

Europe is projected to maintain its stronghold, accounting for 46% of the global market, bolstered by rich traditions and a flourishing wine tourism sector. Meanwhile, North America, with a 21% market share, is identified as the fastest-growing region, driven by shifting preferences among Millennials and Gen Z who increasingly favor wine over beer and spirits.

These younger generations perceive wine as a sophisticated and healthier choice for both social occasions and everyday meals, transforming it from a special-occasion beverage to a staple of daily dining.

Furthermore, there is a rising interest in locally produced wines, enhancing the appeal of emerging wine regions in the United States and Canada. The growth of wine tourism is notable, with more individuals visiting wineries and tasting rooms to explore production methods and discover new brands.

Online wine sales are also booming, with digital platforms providing access to rare bottles and international selections that are often unavailable in local markets. This trend aligns with the curiosity and desire for unique experiences prevalent among younger consumers.
