The Greek food exporters have set higher goals this year, aiming to surpass last year’s record of 10 billion euros. This endeavor takes place in an environment filled with uncertainties, as disruptions in supply chains and trade policies pose challenges for international trade.
The country’s food and beverage exports have seen an increase, with key destinations including Italy, Germany, and the United States. Notable products include fruits, dairy, and olive products, which are at the forefront.
According to an analysis by SEVE, exports are concentrated in a few markets and products, such as olives, feta cheese, and olive oil, which constitute a significant portion of the total value.
Central Macedonia holds a leading position in food export production, with a share of 30%, followed by Attica and Thessaly.
The search for new markets, particularly in Asia, is deemed necessary, given the difficulties in traditional markets such as Russia and the USA, as well as trade agreements that create uneven competition.
