According to Eurostat data, the value of Greek wines in Britain increased by 6.66% in 2025 compared to the previous year.
At the same time, export quantities showed an increase of 3.6%, with the average export price rising by 3.1%. These developments indicate a continuing rise in interest for the country’s wines, which are renowned for varieties such as Assyrtiko and Xinomavro.
From 2019 until the end of 2025, the value of exports to Britain has increased by 142.75%, while quantities have risen by 66.5%.
Furthermore, interest in other alcoholic beverages from the region, such as ouzo, has also grown. Recently, Ouzo Plomari was announced to be launched in 166 Marks & Spencer stores across the country.
Regarding Greek wines, Sofia Perpera, campaign director of the Union of Greek Wine and oenologist, stated: “Britain has become one of the top markets for Greek wine, with growth in every sector. What started with progressive sommeliers and top restaurants has expanded to major importers, retailers, and supermarkets, all confidently embracing Greek wine.”
