18.85% Increase in Imports of Cheap Foreign Wine

By DRINKS.GR ยท March 3, 2026 ยท 1 min read

Significant growth in the imports of inexpensive foreign wine is recorded for 2025, with quantities reaching 30,212 tons, marking an increase of 18.85% compared to the previous year.

This increase comes despite the overall decline in wine consumption and sales in the Greek market. According to data from KEOSOE, the main countries of origin are Italy, Spain, and Bulgaria.

This phenomenon raises questions about consumer preferences and market trends, as Greeks seem to be seeking more economical options, leading to a shift towards foreign wine.

This situation may also have implications for domestic production, with winemakers being called to reassess their strategies to remain competitive in the market.
